Silver Shimmer Dress

And welcome back to things I bought during that big spring sale!!

Today we're talking about the Silver Shimmer Dress:
yay for bad picture of my catalog!
It was one of the two Christmas dresses for 2014 and it's currently on sale for $14. I got it because I knew it would be perfect for the doll I'm planning on buying in August, but since I suck at waiting I'm going to show it to you now.

This is everything you get:

It's a three piece set that comes with a dress, shoes and a headband.

Here is the dress front:
And back. It closes with velcro at the back of course.  They used the nice snag resistant kind!

The bodice is covered (front and back) in silver sequins.
It has silver, satin ribbon straps (one of mine is a little snagged already) and a matching bow.

I was fairly worried about the sequins falling off, but so far I've only lost one:
I wonder if the sequins are why these dresses are still around. They are sewn on using a clear or grey thread (hard to tell with all the sparkle) and seem fairly well stuck on but I'm not sure how well they would hold up to normal play. I think this is definitely an outfit that requires some adult supervision.

The skirt is made out of a matte grey chiffon.
It has four tiers and is covered with silver dots.
I really enjoy the contrast of the matte grey and the shiny dots. I honestly wish the dress was all like this instead of the sequins on top. The dots are printed on which made me wonder about how long they would stay on. So I spent sometime trying to mess one up and couldn't do it! They seem pretty durable surprisingly.

The shoes are silver glitter ballet flats with grey bows: They are actually one of my favorite part of this outfit! I don't know why but I love the look of the glitter; plus they slip on and off easily.

Here is a close up of the glitter:
They look like they would be really chunky and rough but actually these shoes are perfectly smooth. The bow is just well attached and provides a nice contrast. AG has been doing a lot of ballet flats lately, (Way too many in fact. There are other types of shoes!) but I actually really like these. Probably my favorites right now!

And finally here is the headband:
It's covered in grey satin, it has a GIANT TAG, and!

A sparkly bow:
As far as headbands go it's nice. It sits well in her hair and is easy to get on. And I do have to admit they made the giant tag pretty easy to get off this time!

Now since I don't actually have who this dress belongs to yet her sister, Wrennie, is going to model! And here it is on her:
Oh so pretty! It does hit her a little above the knee and I love the way it poofs out away from her body.

Glamor shots:

And one more just for fun:
I, for the most part, really like this dress. There are a few things I'm not fond of. Mostly the sequins! They tend not on lie flat around the edges and clutter up the neck line and they are a bit busy in person. But at the same time, looking at the pictures of Wrennie, I think they look amazing. I'm also not terribly fond of that giant bow.

Other than those two things I'm really happy! I love the skirt, I love the shoes to death, and I think the headband looks nice. I especially love this whole outfit when I remember it only cost me 14 bucks. And it's absolutely perfect for Wrennie's little sister. I can't wait to get her and put this on her!

I hope you enjoyed this look at the Silver Shimmer Dress. Next time we're going to look at another special edition outfit. I hope it lives up to Kaya's! Till then!

  1. They are currently fond of ballerina flats AND headbands with a big thing like a bow or a tulle puff set at a jaunty angle. I'd rather have clips or something :P

The dress is cute! It'll look good on that doll!
