Molly has arrived!!

I was not expecting Molly to show up today but when I got home from running my errands this box was at my door!
And when I opened it up I found:
A Molly! And I was super excited!! Until I got her out of the box and started looking her over.  This girl needs some MAJOR tlc and I'm not sure I'm going to be happy when I'm done.  The seller described her as being in good condition and I don't agree with that.

First, and it's really hard to see in the pictures, one side of her face is flattened a little. In fact because of that her glasses don't really fit:
I'm not sure what I can do about that!

Second, well see for yourself:
Her foot is caved in. Not only that but:
Her legs are two different sizes! Those are all things I didn't know about when I bought her! I guess I could excuse the leg differences since I suppose someone could miss that, but her foot is ridiculous! That should have been noted in the listing. There wasn't even a picture of it. But sometimes this is what happens when you buy off of ebay!

Problems I did know about:
The neck stains. They are pretty extensive and my first idea for getting rid of them didn't work so I'll be doing some research! Her hair is dry but that's to be expected! Her face paint is pretty much gone and she's just a little dirty in general.

Also
Let me give you a quote straight from the listing. "I recently tightened her legs, but they are still a tiny bit wobbly." This my friends is not a tiny bit wobbly. But I did know the legs were loose so I can't complain too much!

So do I have any good news? Actually, yes! Her hair, while dry and a little fizzy, is un-matted and very easy to brush through.

The most important part though is this:
There is not one hint of silver eye! (also in this picture you can kind of see how misshapen her face is)

So I've been working on a plan of attack:
  1. I'm going to entirely remove her wig and do a full restoration on it (wash, condition, down dunk and possibly straighten it)
  2. I'm going to remove all her limbs and stuffing and wash her body to see if I can remove the neck stains.
  3. Do research on how to fix her head.
  4. Replace misshapen leg/foot and tighten her other leg.
  5. Possibly repaint her face.
  6.  Remove all additional stains on her limbs.
I'll keep you guys updated!

    1. Yeah it is. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with her yet. I think I'll go ahead with the restoration and if I'm not happy I'll sell her and try to at least get what I paid for her back.

  2. Have you left feedback yet? If not I'd consider filing a case with eBay. It's not like you can miss a mashed face and foot in real life. The seller had to know and intentionally failed to disclose. At the very least it's worth a shot to see if you can get a portion of your money back. I bought a JLY 23 on eBay with damage that was not disclosed in the listing. The seller didn't want the hassle of selling the doll all over again and refunded a decent percentage of my cost. It was great because I didn't really want to return her; I just wouldn't have bid so high had I known. An AG doll for $15? Yes, please! I still don't know what I'll ultimately do with her but for now she's been my guinea pig for ear piercing, limb restringing, and paint/stain removal. I haven't had the nerve to repaint her eyelids yet but someday I'll muster the gumption. Good luck with Molly! I just hate when eBay stuff isn't as described.

    1. I haven't yet but I think I will file a claim. I'm still kind of mulling over what to say about her. The funny thing is I looked over the photos well before I bought her and unless you look for them you'd never guess she has so many issues! I took a chance on a seller starting out and unfortunately I was reminded why I'm usually so picky about who I buy from! Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to keep you all updated on the situation!
